Updating the Comprehensive Plan

The Washington State Growth Management Act requires that cities and counties conduct a thorough review of their comprehensive plans every ten years. Lacey’s previous Comprehensive Plan was completed in 2016.

Lacey’s Comprehensive Plan Update reflects new population and employment projections and related changes in zoning and land use, as well as new community priorities, changes in State law, and other factors.

Community Engagement Process

Envision Tomorrow is Lacey’s community engagement process. Since early 2024, we have reached out to communities to hear from residents about their hopes and vision for Lacey’s future.

Key opportunities for community engagement have reached approximately 45,000 people and include:

Summer 2024 visioning outreach booths at local events
An online survey in Fall 2024
A community Open House in February 2025
Comment forms and email sign-ups on the web

Public engagement opportunities will continue to be offered, including a chance to review and comment on draft policies for each element of the plan.

Envision Tomorrow will provide many opportunities for people to share their thoughts and ideas, from townhall meetings and neighborhood conversations to online surveys and policy reviews. We seek input from as many people as possible.

We encourage everyone to share what they love about Lacey, as well as their dreams for how our community can grow. The decisions we make today can benefit future generations through opportunities for housing, local businesses, transportation, and the environment.
